However, this does not mean they are completely scratch-proof. When you consider that a staggering 95% of scratches on PVC floors are caused by sliding chairs, it’s wise to equip them with good floor protectors or furniture glides. Which floor protectors Should You Use for Your PVC Floor?

The best option for PVC floors is to use softer furniture glides. In general, a hard cap or glide doesn’t work well on a hard floor, and this also applies to PVC flooring. Since soft glides are rarely available, Scratch no More has developed glides with polyamide fibres. Felt for PVC Floors

Let’s start with the most commonly used material for floor protectors: felt. Felt pads are available in all shapes and sizes, with screws or adhesive strips. While they may seem like a cheap and easy solution at first glance, they will ultimately let you down. First, felt is quite hard. Dirt gets trapped between the hard cap and the floor. As a result, the dirt is dragged across the floor like sandpaper, causing scratches. Secondly, felt wears out quickly; after about two to three months, it is generally worn down. So if you’re wondering which felt is best for a PVC floor, the short answer is: none.

Teflon PVC floor protectors

Another popular material for PVC floor protectors is Teflon. The big advantage of Teflon glides is that the chair slides easily. The big downside is, as you might have guessed, that Teflon glides are very hard. When dirt gets under a Teflon cap and is dragged across the floor, it’s almost a guarantee for scratches. Additionally, the glides have only a thin layer of Teflon, with rubber inside. If your Teflon glide wears out, there’s a chance you’ll leave a large black rubber streak on your floor. What a waste!

Plastic floor protectors on PVC Floors

A plastic floor glide on a PVC floor is also strongly discouraged. This glide is hard and will cause scratches. Moreover, chairs with hollow legs often already have standard plastic caps in the legs. During the production of chairs, little consideration is given to the impact of sliding furniture on the floor.
