You've invested in the best floor protectors to prevent wear and tear, but just like other home products, furniture glides also require maintenance to keep working optimally. With regular cleaning and a few simple steps, you'll not only extend the life of the protectors but also ensure your floor stays looking like new for years to come.
Regular cleaning prevents dirt buildup.
Scratch no More furniture glides are made of a dry-walk carpet that pushes dirt aside. This prevents dirt from sanding across your floor. However, some dust or dirt can accumulate over time, especially with heavy use. Occasional cleaning keeps the furniture glides in top condition. There are three steps to properly maintaining your furniture gliders:
- Brush the foot with the maintenance brush: By occasionally brushing the foot with the maintenance brush, you ensure that all large dirt is removed from the feet.
- Run the foot under running water: Briefly holding the foot under running water and then scrubbing it with a cloth removes any dirt stuck to the foot.
- Use the furniture glider cleaner: Spray the product on the included white microfiber cloth and wipe the foot with it. When using the furniture glider cleaner, you'll see that there was still a lot of dirt on the foot, which comes off really well with the cleaner.
By regularly maintaining your furniture gliders, you extend the life of the feet and ensure they look like new again!
Check the condition of your feet regularly.
Although Scratch no More products are much more durable than traditional felt pads, it's still a good idea to inspect them occasionally. If you see any dirt buildup, make sure you clean them and maintain them properly. Regularly checking this will ensure the pads' protection doesn't diminish.
Replace them promptly for lasting protection
The furniture glides last up to eight times longer than felt, but no product is indestructible. When you notice that chairs slide less smoothly, the carpet is worn, or there's dirt in the pad that's impossible to clean, it's time for a replacement. A new set will ensure your furniture moves smoothly again and that your floor continues to have optimal protection. By replacing them promptly, you not only prevent scratches but also maintain the comfort and quietness of the furniture glides.
Combine with mats for extra protection
Good floor protection doesn't just start with the chairs; it starts at the front door. Dirt and sand that enter your home are often the biggest culprits for wear and tear. With an outdoor entrance mat and an indoor entrance mat, you keep most of the dirt outside. This not only keeps your floor cleaner, but also your furniture glides in better condition. After all, less dirt means less friction, less chance of scratches, and less maintenance in the long run. And less dirt in your home also means less frequent vacuuming 😉.
Small maintenance with a big difference
Maintaining your floor protectors takes little time, but pays off big time. By keeping them clean, checking them regularly, and replacing them when necessary, they continue to function smoothly and significantly extend their lifespan. This way, you keep your floor looking beautiful for longer, prevent unnecessary wear, and enjoy a quiet, comfortable living space.
